Classification and host plants
Species: T. domestica Packard
“Phytopathology, agricultural entomology and applied biology” – M.Ferrari, E.Marcon, A.Menta; School edagricole - RCS Libri spa
The Pesciolino delle case is a small, atmospheric insect that prefers closed, warm and humid environments and can be found in domestic environments or, more frequently, in bakeries, generally at heat sources such as ovens. It is somewhat similar to the more well-known silverfish (Lepisma saccharina), compared to which it has slightly larger dimensions, with a body of 1-1.6 cm long.
It has nocturnal habits and is lucivago. The body is elongated and flattened in the dorso-ventral direction, with greater width at the thorax. The integument shows a spotted pigmentation due to the presence of brown scales.
Each female lays up to a hundred eggs in the cracks. The post-embryonic development takes place in about a year. Adults live 1–3 years.

Populations of T. domestica never reach significant quantities, as they are made up of small communities of a few individuals and in most cases they do not constitute damage factors. Any infestations can be combated with common insecticides based on synthetic pyrethroids available on the market for civil use.
